This is my wonderful Auld Traction Engine, Made by David A Auld of New Zealand
His business ran from around 1966 until the late 1980's, he made a whole range of steam toys including a Steam Roller and a Traction Engine.
He was based in Graymouth on the west coast of New Zealand. He also seemed to have a connection with Cranco and may have bought some of Cranco’s old stock when they went out of business.
This is one tough and well built little engine, perfect for these hardy climates. The drive mechanism is similar to other New Zealand Mobiles wherein it drives both of the back wheels with small rubber drive wheels held on the main back wheels with springs.
Auld 1970
