This is my fully restored Bowman #839 AC dynamo, not to bad for 80 years old. These dynamos were built by Doll in approx. 1927, it seems it was a common practice at the time for one Toy manufacturer to sell components to others.
Doll sold the dynamo components to Bowman. Bowman then mounted them on the Meccano base and sold the dynamo as their own product. Some versions of this popular toy steam accessory have a small plaque stating 2 volts, 0.1 amps. And on some a thin blue pinstripe outlines the horseshoe magnet while a thin black pinstripe adorns the red base
