This is my 1961 Mamod SR1 The SR1 roller first went into production in January 1961.
At the rear of the engine you will notice that the very first engines had no tow
hook, this was because the brass vaporising burner was riveted to the scuttle front
plate. Also the cranks were brassed and connected to a thinner crankshaft and had
the word Mamod on them.
This steamroller was much bigger than the Mastrand it took its inspiration from and
featured polished aluminium roller and wheels, along with bright green and red paint.
This hardy steam toy was a quick little mover and surprised everyone with the speed
it could travel (as they still do to this day)
