Mamod TE1 Traction Engine 1965
This 1965 Mamod TE1 is one of the first models I bought when I started collecting
Steam Mobiles.
This was the first big change for the TE1 when Mamod introduced Pop Rivets in to
the TE1 construction and did away with the old brass screws. In 1964 they had moved
over to the ribbed canopy (which Mamod’s still have to this day) with a red and gold
transfer,.
Unfortunately I did not know at the time of purchase that this TE1 had been restored
by a well-known lady who does this as a business on Ebay. She misled me during the
sale, saying it was part of her late fathers collection etc etc... Very dishonest.
Anyway its not done to badly, however I have since found out she does not use heat
resistant paint so I will probably never be able to steam this lovely example.
