Mamod TE1A - Brown Canopy
It is widely believed and well documented in the book: “Mamod - the story of Malins Models” that Malins produced two Special Edition TE1's. Lucky for me I have managed to get one of them, this is my 1993 Special Edition Book Club Mamod TE1A. This special edition model was made for a book club mail order company of the time, and are now extremely rare.
This version is based on the then hugely popular 1993 Mamod TE1A. However this one has a polished boiler, and the all important identifying feature of a brown canopy and completely painted all over brown wheels. This version is often confused with a similar version that Mamod still produce to this day, which has all the same features of polished boiler, partially painted brown wheels, but the new one has a standard white canopy.
